This movie is very highly anticipated for a lot of people, myself included, it was announced my first thought was “fucking awesome” then my immediate second though was “I hope it doesn’t suck”. Then the trailer was released and it looked like there was a green light to get excited, but I still held my reservations because I still remember the shitiligy that was the X-Men movies. Well one thing this movie succeeded on was being vastly better than any of the X-Men movies, in fact it was better than all three combined, granted that wasn’t too hard of a feat to pull off. It more or less follows the Wolverine Origins comic story with a few inconsistencies. For the most part I thought it was pretty good, not great, and not terrible. That is until ‘Weapon XI’ shows up, then we have about twenty minutes of pure and total shit. That aside Hugh Jackman still does a good job filling as Wolverine, Liev Schreiber gets the job done as Sabretooth (although I’m pretty sure the name Sabretooth is never in the movie), and Kevin Durand is pretty decent as the Blob. However that’s about as far as it goes. Taylor Kitsch was a pretty shitty Remy LeBeau/Gambit, but to be fair, I’m not sure how much of that was truly his fault, and the one that really surprised me was there was a very bad version of everybody’s favorite “Merc with a Mouth,” Deadpool aka Wade Wilson, trying to fill those shoes was a man I’m a fan of, Ryan Reynolds. I’m going to cut Ryan some slack here though and blame the script, he really didn’t have much of a role, and the action sequences he was in were pretty shitty but I still feel like given the chance he could have lived up to what it should have been. Also in this movie was the pain in the ass I can never escape, Scott Summers, I’ve always hated this douche bag, even when I was a kid and now he’s gotta pop up in every movie having remotely to do with the X-Men, it’s maddening. All in this entire movie was not good, but realistically it could have been much worse. I hesitate to blame the Director, Gavin Hood or the writer, David Benioff sense they’ve had very little experience in either roles but I really don’t see where else I can put the blame for this movie. I mean I would like to thank them for not throwing another piece of X-shit on me but I still feel this could have been so much better. Ah you know what, screw it, I’m blaming the failure of this entirely on Scott Summers.
