Michael Mann, director of The Last of the Mohicans, Heat, Ali, Callateral, Miami Vice has stepped up once again to bring us the story of John Dillinger. Johnny Depp is John Dillinger and Gotham’s own Christian Bale is the man after him, Melvin Purvis. I really only have one gripe about this movie, at times it looked pretty shitty, I imagine because of the way Mr. Mann decided to film the movie, at other times I actually felt like I was watching a behind the scenes of a movie rather than the movie itself, I can’t quite pinpoint it on low production values but that’s a possibility. Luckily the whole movie was not like this, only few minute flashes every now and then. Besides this however the movie was fucking awesome. It really seemed like one of the classics that we were getting from many years before. This film should really stand the test of time, all the acting was great, great story, just a great fucking movie. Hell if you keep your eyes peeled you’ll even see Don Frye pop up! Basically if you’ve got some free time to catch a movie while this is out drop your $10 on this if you’re not in the mood to watch the Hangover.
