I came to this show for two reasons, first, The Firecrackers. And second, to check out some of the bands playing Insub Fest that I hadn’t seen before. It turned out to be a great night. With a whole lot of new great bands.

Trashkanistan – These guys had more jokes than songs, they’ll fit right in with Insub Fest. Their set was a lot of fun, looking forward to seeing these guys again.
The Dewtons – At first I was going to say The Dewtons were a solid standard pop punk band, but they really turned out to be a bit more than that. As the set went on they just got better and better. I’m not too familiar with The Dewtons but I’m going to do my best to find out more and keep an eye on this band.
The Firecrackers – I hadn’t seen The Firecrackers in a very long time, luckily they haven’t lost a step. They even played a couple of songs I’d never heard before. Something about this band just makes you want to dance.
BraceFace - I’d listened to BraceFace’s stuff before and enjoyed it but wasn’t really wowed. This was my first time seeing them and it really opened my eyes to the band. They were really great, the crowd was super into it too, and it kind of reminded me of seeing the Dopamines. They played a Descendents cover, I hope they either practice it a lot more or cut it from the set; they also played a Teenage Bottlerocket cover, that one was real good.
Hank – I didn’t really see enough of this band to give them a fair chance, what I did catch though I wasn’t into. There was a really sloppy Ramones cover.
