Album Downloads (Free/Donation)

I guess you’ve noticed by now but here at Uncle Critic we like music, and any chance there is to spread the word about good stuff we’ll take it. So here for your enjoyment is some albums/ep’s whatever that have been offered up for free download or donation based download. Pages with donations please take the time to throw some bucks their way because, money does make the world go round and more money for these bands means more music for us. Also everything that’s being posted here has been approved by the bands or labels so there’s no need to flip out. If you’ve got a band or run a label or whatever that has some stuff they’d like linked up here just get in contact with me and it shall be posted.

Airplane Noise – Getting Down (Indie/Power Pop/Rock)
New Jersey’s Indie Power Pop band Airplane Noise has their new EP ‘Getting Down’ up for free download, they’ve even got lyrics, liner notes and videos up.

American Alligator – Where The Other You Lives (Punk)
Fast catchy punk with a slight Latterman edge to it. Here on their bandcamp page you can get ‘Where The Other You Lives’ for free. It’s pretty damn good.

Atmosphere – Strictly Leakage Album (Hip-Hop)
Hip-Hop group, Atmosphere put together this album for free download as a way to thank their supporters, thirteen songs that are as good as you’d be paying for if these guys weren’t so nice. Released on December 25, 2007 through Rhymesayers Entertainment.

Billy Raygun – Various Releases (Punk/Pop Punk)
Out of New Hampshire comes Billy Raygun, this pop punk rock group has been around a few years and they’ve got a few releases up for free on their bandcamp page. You can get these in record/tape/(and I hear CD soon) so don’t hesitate to scoop up the physical verisons.

Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children Macnuggits – Live Recordings (a bit of everything)
Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children Macnuggits are some rad guys that have a bit of everything, up on their bandcamp page they’ve got a couple of live recordings for your enjoyment.

Boilerman – Various Releases (Pop Punk)
Some quality pop punk here that keeps the punk in pop punk. Here you can download a few of their releases for free, but if you want the real deal you can find physical copies of this stuff around too.

Brick Mower – Various Releases (Punk/Rock/Pop Punk)
Brick Mower mixes some punk and rock elements really well, with a little bit of an alternative sound thrown in for good measure. Here on their bandcamp you can get a few of their releases for a small price and their Floors EP for free.

Britney’s Spear – We Fight Entropy Album (Punk)
Britney’s Spear offers their ‘We Fight Entropy’ album up for free at their site. Not only is this the best name I’ve come across in a while the album is fun too.

Brooklyn Underground – Take This Back: VOL 1 (Punk Compilation)
A 20 track comp from the Brooklyn Underground featuring enough bands to keep you interested but not too many to overwhelm you, 20 bands for $0, you’ll find that hard to beat.

Burn Books Records – Pregnant S/T LP (Punk)
Burn Books is releasing records, books, zines, art, whatever. Currently the site is most notably home to the band Pregnant. You can get their self-titled LP from the web site. It’s up for free download there, but don’t be stingy, there’s a donate button there you should use too. If you’re really cool you can hit their store and buy the LP and some other cool shit.

Caffiends – Redneck Hottub Time Machine (Pop punk)
Old style pop punk from Orlando/Tallahassee, FL. The Caffiends are proof that every band from Florida doesn’t sound the same. On their bandcamp you can download their ‘Redneck Hottub Time Machine’ EP, it’s got a Beatnik Termites cover!

Candy Hearts – Ripped Up Jeans And Silly Dreams Album (Indie/Pop Punk)
Candy Hearts are a female fronted indie rock/pop punk band from New York. Here’s their 13 song album Ripped Up Jeans And Silly Dreams, it’s so good I’m still shocked it’s a free download, kick them some donation money so they can record more released March 9, 2010.

Calvinball – Various Releases (Pop Punk)
Calvinball is a band that has a great name and lots of talent (despite what their facebook page says). I instantly liked these guys a lot. If you don’t know them, or even if you do, you can hop on their bandcamp here where they’ve got a couple albums worth of music for you. You can pay them whatever you want, you can get it for free, but I’m sure they’d dig some money too.

Clint Maul – Thrift Store Dress EP (Alt-Country/Country/Folk)
Clint Maul has had a string of great country releases, here now is his new 5 song EP for donation based/no limit download. Be sure you check this out if you like good folk or country music.

Colin Farrell – Are Not Serious Album (Punk)
Colin Farrell is a punk band from Italy. Here’s their 11 song album ‘Are Not Serious’ for all for free. If some good punk rock is what you’re after check this one out.

Dagwood – Various Releases (Punk/Pop)
This is Dagwood from Connecticut, not only do they have a great name, they’ve also got a lot of great songs. Up on their bandcamp you can get their demo and their album, Paradise, for whatever price you want, or free if you’re that kinda person.

Daytrotter – Various Releases (Everything)
Daytrotter is a really unique place, they’ve got a record barn section some pretty rad videos. But what we’ve also got is a ton of sessions, all archived for download. And they’ve got something for everyone. From Drag the River to Aesop Rock to Andrew W.K. to Ingrid Michaelson. Whatever you’re into chances you’ll find a session of a few artists you like. All one of a kind, and almost all of them for free download. Take a look, you’ll be glad you did.

Dead Ringer – Demo 2010 (Pop Punk)
Female fronted pop punk in the vein of Discount, The Measure [SA], Lemuria. If you’re into any of those bands make sure you hit up Dead Ringer’s bandcamp page and download their demo!

Death to False Hope Records – Various Releases (Punk Label)
Death to False Hope records is a punk label that offers their albums up for free download off of their website, they’ve put out a lot of great stuff and there’s plenty to browse they’ve got a big range of the type of stuff they put out. You can find such bands as Nerd Alert, Mixtapes, Hold Tight!, and Arliss Nancy.

Del The Funky Homosapien – Various Releases (Hip-Hop)
Del goes by a few variations of the spelling of his name, the important thing to remember is he’s one of the best, if not the best rapper out there. He’s done work with the Gorillaz, is a member of the rap group Hieroglyphics and had a large hand in bringing the world my personal favorite rap album ever, Deltron 3030. Here he’s got up a handful of releases for free or donation.

Derailer – Moose Country (Pop Punk)
Derailer is a brand of pop punk from Indiana, they’ve got a style somewhere between Jawbreaker, RVIVR, and Latterman. Here on their bandcamp page you can download their Moose Country demo at your own price.

Drag The River – 2010 Demons (Country)
If you like the alt-country thing you should already know Drag the River, actually they’re so good I wouldn’t even put the alt-country label on them, these guys just do some goddamn good country music. Here for donation based download is Demons, “This is what Drag The River songs sound like as they are being written. Before the amps are turned on and the drums are set. 10 of 24 songs tracked in July & August of 2010. The songs will be rerecorded for a brand new studio album in 2011.”

Dry Feet – Philadelphia Beach Album (Surf Rock)
Dry Feet is a surf rock band from the Beach of Philadelphia, here’s their 8 track album you should check out before you hit the sand, Released 2010

Evan Gornik – What A Long Day (Acoustic/Folk/Punk)
Some good catchy acoustic punk stuff, Evan’s got his ‘What A Long Day’ album up for a name your price download, its well worth whatever you choose to donate. There’s also a split record out there that’s not posted here you can find on record.

Family Cat – You’ve just Ben Weasel’d (Punk/Pop Punk)
Family Cat is some damn good punk rock in the vein of Jawbreaker or Samiam, so if you listen to those bands you know what you’re in for. Here they’ve got ‘You’ve just Ben Weasel’d’ up for free download, don’t sleep on this one.

For The Kid In The back – Various Releases (Sad Bastard Music)
Some great acoustic tunes here, this stuff is really good and it’s all offered up for free. But don’t worry record guys; you can get physical copies of this stuff as well.

Get Bent – Demo (Punk)
You dig melodic punk rock from New York? You’ll most likely dig Get Bent then, they’re broken up now but there’s their 5 song demo from way back in 2008, just because the band isn’t still around doesn’t mean you can’t still hook them up with a donation.

Gnarly Whales – Tape (Folk Punk)
Acoustic punks from FL, Gnarly Whales are kind of like Andrew Jackson Jihad or Mischeif Brew if they grew a pair and decided to be a punk band.

Go Great Guns – Sundays (Punk)
Go Great Guns is a punk band with huge amounts of potential. On their bandcamp you can get their Sundays EP. It’s only three songs, but it gives you a dose of what is hopefully a ton of great things to come. Plus it’s free, so that’s always great too.

Good Men Die Like Dogs – Various Releases (Punk)
Some catchy punk from Arizona is what Good Men Die Like Dogs is. Here on their web site you can download their releases for free, or you can be a good person and give them some donation money, and if you’re even cooler you can buy the records from their site. No matter how you do it make sure you don’t pass it up.

Gruff Beard Records – Various Releases (Punk)
Gruff Beard Records might not have a giant catalog yet but so far everything they’ve put out has been real good. Here on their bandcamp page you can download it all at your own price. Be sure to throw them some money though so they can keep putting out great stuff.

G-DO & Xception – Mood Of The Music Album (Hip-Hop)
The debut release of Xception & G-DO, this is a great hip-hop album. Mood of the Music is posted for free up at their bandcamp page. Anyone who likes some good hip-hop should be all over this one.

Hold Tight! – Can’t Take This Away album (Pop Punk)
Quick loud pop punk from Richmond, Hold Tight! is one of the bands that keeps the punk securely in pop punk. Here’s their Can’t Take This Away album up for a price that you can name.

Iron Chic – Every Release (Pop Punk/Punk)
Iron Chic is one of those bands that’s kind of hard to throw a label on, they’re just good. The band has been around a couple years and in that time they’ve accoulmuated a few releases, here they’ve got them all posted for you. Be kind and throw them some cash for the downloads, or you can buy records too.

Jerk Damaged – Various Releases (Punk/Rock/Pop)
Bare bones down and dirty punk rock, Jerk Damaged edges pretty close at times to being garage rock with some power but pulls it back enough to stay with the punk rockers. They’ve got a lot of catchy tunes that should keep you wanting more for a while.

Joyce Manor – Constant Headache (Pop Punk)
Melodic pop punk in a Jawbreaker meets Get Up Kids fashion. Here on their bandcamp page they’ve got their Constant Headache EP for a price you can pick.

Kids Say the Darndest Things – The Mortimer Greene EP (Pop Punk)
Kids Say the Darndest Things is a great pop punk trio from San Diego. Here you can check out their EP for free, and it’s something you should really do. This reminds me of more of the alternative style of bands like ALL!

Kind of Like Records – Various Releases (Punk/Pop Punk Label)
Kind of Like records is a label that brings out some great pop punk bands and now with their new site Kind of Like Records added a download section. The section will feature EPs and demos from up and coming bands that they think are extra special. In the coming months, they’ll be adding more to it, most offered for donation download.

Kiss of Death Records – Various Releases (Punk Label)
Kiss of Death Records is everything that’s great about punk rock. They like music and the people that help create it and get it out there. Here you can download some of their releases from such bands as The Anchor, Mayflower, New Bruises, The Measure (sa), No Friends, Senders, Unwelcome Guests, Vrgns. The download page is on their store page so buy some stuff while you’re there getting freebies.

Kristia Moya – Various Releases (Acoustic)
Kristia Moya is the lady behind the band Dead Ringer, she’s also got some pretty great covers on youtube. Here she’s setup a bandcamp page for some of her acoustic songs, check em out because they’re really good.

Lipstick Homicide – Various Releases (Pop punk)
A three piece pop punk band from Iowa, that’s right Iowa. They do songs that are rad and catchy, plus who doesn’t like a pop punk band with female vocals? Here on their bandcamp they’ve got some stuff for you to check out.

Man The Change – Various Releases (Punk)
Punk band Man The Change offers two EP’s and an 8 song album up for free or name your price, over on their bandcamp page.

New Creases – Various Releases (Pop Punk)
Awesome male and female fronted vocal pop punk from Columbus, OH. If you haven’t heard them yet then you’ve been missing out. Here on their bandcamp page they’ve got just about all of their releases up for download.

No Children – Demo (Punk/Pop)
Free demo here from a great band. That’s right folks, No Children have a bandcamp with their demo up (it’s really good) and you can get it all for free. So you do yourself a favor and download it now.

No Enemy! – Various Releases (Punk)
Catchy punk rock somewhere between Hot Water Music, skate punk and Lookout! Records. Here on their bandcamp page you can get their Unwind EP and the Life Waster album.

Not Shy Of The DIY – Various Releases (Punk)
Not Shy of the DIY offers some great punk and pop punk releases. Some of them they have a set price on some of them donation based, either way throw them some coin because these rule.

Opio – Various Releases (Hip-Hop)
Being a member of hip-hop super group, Hieroglyphics you should know by now that Opio is a great rapper. Here up on his bandcamp page he’s got a couple of releases that you can name your price to download. There’s no reason you shouldn’t have these if you like good hip-hop.

Paul Baribeau – Unbearable Album (Indie)

For those of you already familiar with Paul Baribeau I’m sure you’ve already got this or are currently downloading. Everyone who isn’t pay attention, Paul is a guy, a guitar and a beard, he writes songs, real good ones. He’s put out a handful of albums and this one continues his chain of great material. 10 songs, Released on August 6, 2010, you can get it from Paul’s bandcamp page or the ifyoumakeit page, the choice is yours! You can also kick him some donation money, or buy this on CD or Record.

Rumspringer – Various Releases (Pop Punk)
Rumspringer is my favorite active band to come out of the past ten years or so. They do a latterman style of pop punk, but in their own way. So far everything they’ve released it top fucking quality and here you can check it all out.

Sick Sick Birds – Every Release (Indie Rock/Pop Punk)
Sick Sick Birds are one of my top favorite bands from Baltimore, ever. They defy really being categorized by one genre but wherever you want to stack them they’ll be towards the top of the list. They’ve got more than a handful of releases and up here on their bandcamp you can get them for various price ranges from zero to a million. Listen to it, enjoy it, and go see them when you get the chance.

Sister Kisser – Every Release (Punk/Pop Punk)
Sister Kisser is some pretty awesome pop punk in the vein of Spraynard and Iron Chic. They rule a lot and put on a great show. Here on their band camp they’ve got their album, their split with Ink & Lead and their Demo all for whatever price you want. Download, listen, and throw em some cash.

Spraynard – Every Release (Punk/Pop Punk)
Spraynard is a pop punk band that’s been around for a few years now, they’re nice enough to offer up all their releases for download on their web site. But remember kids, everything is also available in record form, so don’t leave your turntable out in the cold.

Sundials – First Six Songs EP (Indie/Punk/Power Pop)
Sundials is pretty new around here, they bring a indie power pop thing for us. this EP ‘First Six Songs is up for free or donation based download. Some of these songs are also on the band’s first 7″ called ‘First 3 Songs’ so you get to be cool and own the record too.

Sun Puddles – Demo (Indie/Pop/Rock)
Sun Puddles are a pretty awesome pop rock band from up in New Jersey. If you’re into bands like Superchunk and Pavement hop on over to their bandcamp and check out the demo. Even if you’re not into those bands do it anyway because it’s really good.

The Fucking Cops – Demo (Pop Punk)
The Fucking Cops is one of Cleveland’s best bands, which is pretty good when you’re still pretty new. They got some great pop punk tunes, here you can get started with a donation for a download of their 4 song demo. They’ve also got an EP out so be sure to keep an eye out for that too.

The Headies – Every Release (Punk)
The Headies make sure they keep the fun in punk, so make sure you check out their bandcamp that has some tunes on it. Don’t forget, you’re allowed to buy it in physical form as well.

The Leather Jackets – Demos (Pop Punk)
Catchy straight up pop punk is what you get out of the Leather Jackets. The name is pretty perfect for a band like this. The demo they have posted on their bandcamp is awesome and I can’t wait to hear more from these guys.

The Nico Blues – Blame the Boredom, Blame the Basements Album (Alt Rock)
Quality alternative rock, you can get their album downloaded from their web site.

The Winslows – Various Releases (Pop Punk)
Some fun pop punk, they’ve got a couple releases up here for free download, be sure to check it out.

The Zits – Every Release (Pop Punk/Surf Rock)
The Zits, the one man pop punk band that doesn’t just keep themselves limited to that box when it comes to the sound of the band. Each release has something different going for it, from acoustic, to electric to surf so make sure you take the time to get it all or you might miss something. Don’t be shy on throwing down a donation too.

Timeshares – Every Release (Pop Punk)
Timeshares is some rad pop punk from New York. They might not have a lot out right now but you’ll be listening to it non-stop anyway. Fans of Rumspringer/Iron Chic/Hot Water Music take note

Tit Patrol – Every Release (Punk/Pop Punk)
Tit Patrol is some fast paced pop punk that’s too goofy not to love, the guys are awesome enough to put everything up on their bandcamp page, but be sure to pick up some records if you can.

Ultimate Fakebook – Daydream Radio Is Smiling Static Album (Power Pop/Rock)
Power Pop band Ultimate Fakebook broke up years ago but then on July 27th 2010 they unleashed a new 17 song album. This is comprised of old unreleased and new material. The guys decided to put this out as a free download and as of now the free download is the only way to get it, but feel free to go buy their other albums.

Unwelcome Guests – Every Release (Folk/Indie/Pop Punk/Country/Punk/Rock)
Unwelcome Guests run the gambit of styles they do a little of everything but still manage to keep it sounding like the same band. Up on their bandcamp page here they’ve got all their material up for small price sale or free/donation download. You can also buy most of this on record so always keep that in mind.

Vitriol Records – Various Releases (Hardcore/Indie/Metal/Punk/Thrash)
Vitriol Records is a label that has a pretty good collection of stuff up on their bandcamp. If you look through here you’re bound to find something you like, chances are you’ll find more than a few things. Some releases they have for a set price, some they’ve got up as a name your own. Make sure you take some time and do some browsing here.

Wagers – New Guilt Album (Indie/Punk)
Wagers blend indie and punk the say Superchunk does. They haven’t been around too long but they’ve already proved that they’re a band that you shouldn’t sleep on. Here you can get their album New Guilt for free.
