So remember some years back when the Ergs put out that album and it was one of the best albums of all time, then a few years later Dear Landlord got added to that list and more recently Rational Anthem put out an album that ranked best of all time as well? Out Utero ranks right up there. This isn’t just one of the best pop punk albums I’ve ever heard, this is some elite best of all time shit. The first time I listened to it I felt like a kid that ate way too much sugar and just had to sit and chill out for a few minutes before I could continue with my day. Turns out the rest of my day consisted of listening to the album on repeat which has actually continued onto the night now. Lipstick Homicide have been showing for a while that they’re one of the best bands going today but with songs like ‘Rockerchick’, ‘Say It To My Face’ and well any of the songs really they’ve stepped up their game to a new level. It’s not like this album has a few standout songs and some filler either, all fourteen songs could easily be considered the best on the album, I haven’t heard an album this front to back solid since ‘dorkrockcorkrod’ and ‘A Matter of Life and Death’ (the two most concrete albums of all time). This band writes some of the best songs and has some of the best vocals currently in music, and it sounds like they played their asses off on this album too. Every single bit of this is the best I’ve ever heard the band, bass, drums, guitar all of it is some top level stuff. I especially like a few of the Descendents-ish bass parts sprinkled throughout. It definitely sounds like they put some serious work into making ‘Out Utero’ sound as amazing as it possibly could. It’s certainly an album that no matter what song you hit will instantly put you in a better mood and your life will be somewhat better for hearing it. If you like pop punk no doubt you know who Lipstick Homicide are but you should still prepare yourself for ‘Out Utero’ because as good as you think it’s going to be, it’s even better. And let’s not just limit this to pop punk you listen to basically any genre of music and you have good taste you’re going to dig this album. It’s out on one of the best labels going Bloated Kat Records. Make sure no matter what you do when it comes out buy this album. I don’t care what you’re doing that day it’s not as important as owning this. Graduation? Child birth? Funeral? New job or an interview for one? Wedding? Fuck em all go buy ‘Out Utero’ and listen to it forever on repeat instead.
