Weekly Label Profile: Metal Blade

metalblade

Name: Metal Blade Records
Lifespan: 1982-present
Web Site: www.metalblade.com
Notable Releases/Bands: Amon Amarth, Anvil, Armored Saint, Bolt Thrower, Hirax, King Diamond, Lizzy Borden, Manowar, Mercyful Fate, Slayer, Vader
Info: Founded by Brian Slagel in 1982, headquarters in California, when you see Metal Blade on an album it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s going to be good, especially if it’s from the 80′s. When I’m taking a chance on a Metal album seeing that Metal Blade logo on the back is definitely a sell point. If you’re into heavy metal and power metal you can’t go wrong with old Metal Blade releases. Currently they’ve staggered and gotten more than a few shitty bands but they’ve got enough good ones still signed that I wouldn’t write them off yet.
