This is a new feature for Uncle Critic, about the only thing that will break the ‘reviews’ mold. Every week I’m going to list upcoming DVD and CD releases. This will not be a list of everything that is coming out that week but just the stuff worth getting. Most likely updated every Sunday.
Releases worth getting Oct 27, 2009
DVDs:
Monty Python: Almost The Truth – The six part mini-series on the IFC Chanel comes to DVD.
Monty Python: The Other British Invasion – If anyone purchased the old complete DVD set of Monty Python’s Flying Circus they may have been annoyed when a new set of it came out with a couple new documentaries. Well this DVD is basically those documentaries in one nice location, now you don’t have to re-buy if you already own the old set.
The Best of Monty Python – A best of for those that don’t own the complete series.
Django Shoots First (1966) – Yet another sequel from the Django series.
Night of the Creeps – The classic horror movie from ’86 FINALLY gets a DVD release, I’ve been waiting years for this one.
Tales from the Darkside: The Second Season – The classic TV series got a season 1 release not long ago, here comes season 2.
The Prisoner: The Complete Series Megaset (Collector’s Edition) – Amazing show, this is a new set with new features. I believe it’s remastered as well.
Life After People: The Complete Season One – Pretty sweet ‘what if’ type series on the History Channel.
Ax Men: The Complete Season One – If anyone’s seen Ax Men they know it rules, History Channel with another big win.
Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown – Looks to be a sweet ass documentary on H.P. Lovecraft, I hear a few top name horror directors are involved here (I personally expect to see Carpenter and Gordon).
Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows – The ‘Bret Hart side of the story’ documentary about the famous ’97 Screw job. This was made years ago, first release on DVD. Apparently it comes with a bonus never before released on DVD,The Life And Death Of Owen Hart.
