Teenage Bottlerocket – I’d seen Teenage Bottlerocket a few times at this point but not enough yet that I was bored of seeing them. They played a ton of great songs (but at this point that was pretty much all they had, great songs) and the set was hella fun. This is still a band that if you haven’t seen it should be on your to do list.

Cobra Skulls – I’d never heard Cobra Skulls but had heard tons of things from people saying that they were either the greatest band in a while or one of the worst bands ever. I can see how there’d be two very extreme ways of thought about the band. When I saw them play they were great. My buddy that was with me thought they were great, their set was A+. Sadly once we went and listened to the Cobra Skulls albums it was not even close to the same. Live the band was something completely different from what they were recorded. You could tell it was the same band but on the albums they were just bad…like really bad.

Clownpunch – Despite their terrible name they were really good this night, the weird thing is that doesn’t seem to stick. I’ve seen them a couple times since and it was pretty much the complete opposite of what happened here. I guess they were really on their game the first time I saw them.

The Quarantines – I forget if this was the first time I’d seen the Quarantines or not, but they left an impression for sure. They cranked out a great set and I made sure to keep tabs on them from there because the band is still coming out with great pop punk about robots and zombies and other cool shit.

Teenage Bottlerocket - Teenage Bottlerocket is a band I’ve seen a bunch now too, I was surprised they were headlining over the Queers but I guess they’re switching off on this tour. Their set was one of the best ones I’ve seen from them in a while too. They played some Lillingtons stuff and that SACK song that they covered (Headbanger) so I was pretty happy with the set.

The Queers - I’ve heard a lot of people complain about the Queers sets during this tour basically saying they’re not very good. I’m not sure what the hell those people are talking about because the Queers were great on this night. I’ve seen the Queers a ton of times now and this was in the top part of that list, their set was the most fun I had the entire night.

Masked Intruder - This was my first time seeing Masked Intruder, I’ve been listening to their stuff since it first came out. They were pretty good, it was a really fun set, and they even had their parole officer with them. There was sadly no ‘Heart Shaped Guitar’ but even without that it was a real good set.

Whiff - I’ve seen Whiff a good number of times now, they’re a local band and they’re pretty fucking great. It’s apparent that they just keep getting better and better because this may have been the best Whiff set I’ve seen yet. I really want these guys to release an album because I’ve listened to the 7″ they have out a ton already and need more. Musically Whiff’s set may have

REVIEW: Teenage Bottlerocket: Ice Age / Walked In Line

Let me throw this out there first then you can all hate me, I don’t like Joy Division. They’ve just never done it for me, so when I found out that Teenage Bottlerocket was doing a 7″ covering two Joy Division songs, I wasn’t exactly excited. I actually passed up buying this record twice, then finally I thought ‘what the hell, maybe Teenage Bottlerocket can make something out of this, they’re a good band’. Well, I can’t say I’m crazy about these songs. They pretty much just sound like really weird songs recorded by Teenage Bottlerocket, which I guess is more or less what they are. If you’re a Joy Division and Teenage Bottlerocket fan you might be into this, as for me I pretty much own this to be a completest at this point.

1. Ice Age
2. Walked In Line
